In 1996 The Legacy of Reginald Perrin was broadcast. The programme is comprised of seven episodes and set after the death of Reginald Perrin (Leonard Rossiter had died in 1984), the key plot element is the will of the deceased. The potential heirs are called to a lawyers office, where it is revealed that the sum of one million pounds will be paid to one of them on the condition that they do something entirely absurd. This series continues the original story ark and uses the same actors as the original three series.
