When Tom Good (Richard Briers) hits his midlife-crises and is fed up with the meaningless rut of his life as a plastic designer, he persuades his wife Barbara (Felicity Kendal) to convert their home and garden into a small farm in order to become self-sufficient. His neighbours Margo (Penelope Keith) and Jeremy Leadbetter (Paul Eddington, Yes Minister, Yes, Prime Minister) are intrigued, but especially Margo is not amused, whereas Jeremy often takes a mediating role, putting friendship before their differences.
