Fairly Secret Army (1984 - 1986)

Starring Geoffrey Palmer (The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin) as Major Harry Kitchener Wellington Truscott who tries to get to grips with life as a civilian. After initial difficulties he starts to build his own (fairly) secret army fighting to save Britain "when the balloon goes up". What the exact nature of the threat is Britain needs to saved from is not exactly made clear. Security reasons, no doubt. Secrecy. Usual suspects, liberals, peace movement types, …. Written by David Nobbs (Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin) and John Cleese (uncredited, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Whoops Apocalypse) the programme has its fair share of absurdity and nonsense.
